That particular wetland area is already heavily impacted by nearby development, traffic, and human activity - among other difficult challenges. A horse back riding trail will only compound water quality issues. It does more harm than good.

Here is a link to the article about the proposed trails. If any of you are able to go to these meetings and voice your opinion, I believe that could go a long way in convincing the powers that be to reconsider.

Amphibians are the fastest declining terrestrial vertebrate taxa and habitat alteration is a leading cause for such declines. We really need to keep the common species common.

This site is important for the research and conservation of the southeast. Regardless of the wildlife/ecological benefits, don't construct a horse trail because of the academic benefits. Countless students at UTC have benefited from this research oppurtunity. Don't discredit that by developing on the site. It's not like there are already thousands of places to ride horses in Tennessee. Enterprise South, use your head. Wildlife and students are far more important to the state than some horse trails.

While I recognize the importance of having places for trail riders (I am a horse lover), it is more important to protectt\ the valuable wetlands and ongoing research that occurs in these wetlands without the added disturbance and destruction these trails would cause.
