Teacher salaries are an impending issue at this moment in North Carolina. We have already seen mass movements of teachers going away from North Carolina because there has been no new fair policy in determining a teacher’s salary. How is only giving twenty five percent of teachers raises and not giving them benefits for achieving higher education, such as a master’s degree, fair to teachers? The sad truth is that there aren’t enough benefits for teachers and that is the exact reason why good teachers are leaving North Carolina to go to another state with a more competitive salary. By not giving reasonable teacher salaries and raises, we are not only harming the lives of many good teachers, but also harming the future of students in North Carolina who are losing these valuable teachers. We are not willing to compromise the future of students for any reason and that is exactly why we are planning to raise awareness for this issue.
