According to the 2010 Census, 19.3 %, roughly 59,492,276 Americans live in rural areas. TDS TELECOM according to broadbandnow boasts of service across 32 states with the greatest coverage area in Wisconsin, Utah, and Tennessee. Based on coverage area, TDS is the 47th largest provider of DSL in the United States. However, that is not true for Perry County, Tennessee. Citing broadbandnow, 15 % in Tennessee are underserved, and I truly feel the full 15 % reside in the capacity outage areas in Perry County.
I lived in an underserved area of Perry County for 18 years. This means TDS DSL was to the left and to the right of my residence, but not at my residence. The family recently moved within county to a DSL supplied area. Yet, after signing up for the 1 mbps package, the only speed package available due to the capacity outage issue, there’s 20 issues in Perry County TN, population roughly 7,869 by the way, is at best, not the 1.0 speed I am playing for, but rather 0.42 most of the day. Why would I pay a DSL price for dial up speed and service? Why would anyone?

Mr. Wittwer, Mr. LaForge, Mr. Butman, Mr. Hess, Ms. Villacrez, Mrs. Hearn, Mr. Paker, Mr. Barber, Mr. Lawson, Mrs. Cefaluand, Mrs. Cindy Tomlinson, Associate Manager — Public Relations, 608-664-4471, and Mrs. DeAnne Boegli, Manager — Public Relations, 608-664-4428 as the faces of TDS Telecom, I speak not just as one stuck in one of the twenty capacity outage areas in Perry County, Tennessee, but for all underserved stakeholders. Will you please put aside all excuses and fix that which is broken? It is time for TDS to stand for Totally Dedicated Service.
