The TDSB curriculum is teaching children that gender identity is not just black and white. Being a girl on the outside, doesn't make you a girl on the inside and being a boy on the outside doesn't make you a boy on the inside. TDSB is teaching children that it is okay to understand that society is more than just what we have been taught in the past. We aren't all heterosexual and our gender is not always as simple as what our physiological characteristics. Identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer etc. is under the sexual orientation spectrum. However transgender, two-spirited, transexual, inter-sexed etc. is not under sexual orientation spectrum, but under the gender spectrum and speaks to someone's transition from one gender to another. However both facets are worthy to be educated to our youth, our children. It is obvious that the purpose of the curriculum is to promote diversity and facilitate empowerment. We want the TDSB to continue to teach this curriculum to our children. Sign the Petition
