The corporate tax as it exists should be eliminated and replaced with a federal sales tax. Any entity selling goods or services in the US would be subject to the tax (paid on the entities' tax return, not collected with purchases.) However, a tax credit can be taken equal to the total federal income tax paid by the entities' employees on their first $200k of income. This would quickly stimulate job creation and reward companies that employ US workers. The more middle class jobs a company maintains, the lower its taxes. The largest employers would pay a lower tax than they do now. The policy would eliminate tax loopholes and not favor particular industries. It would quickly reduce unemployment and broaden the tax base. The sales tax percentage can be setup to automatically adjust based on the level of unemployment. If the US is near full employment, the sales tax will be at its lowest and companies would have more flexibility to outsource to countries with more cost effective labor forces. The policy would reduce trade imbalances and maintain a tax revenue stream that would prevent the deficit/debt from ballooning out of control. In short, it protects the wealth of middle class workers. A change is needed before it's too late.
