Final supporters
This year lobster workers, and young workers especially, have asked for help concerning the lack of robust health insurance for Mainers. The latter have also been the driving force behind the connection to “Tax the Rich.” This is NOT some pie in the sky proposal. One example is Connecticut. They have enacted a mansion sales tax - 1.5% on houses over $800,000. Houses over $1.5 million - 2.5%.
Waiting until 2020 to vote correctly won’t be enough. Time for ACTION!
The Vinalhaven Discussion Group (VDG) encourages all Maine residents to sign the following petition that is directed to the Maine State Senators and State Representatives:
All Mainers need full healthcare including robust health insurance. We call for taxing the rich e.g. mansion tax, and budgeting monies for healthcare.

One other option to increase tax revenue is to charge higher sales and property tax for 2nd homes.

This country started to thrive when the rich were taxed at over 85%. None of them went to the poor house.

This is not that new an idea and it is a REALLY important issue in Maine - vacationland - where we have historically so many "summer places" - massive properties of the none resident rich. They depend on the real resident population of Maine. They need to contribute proportionately to their wealth to the society.
One other option to increase tax revenue is to charge higher sales and property tax for 2nd homes.
