The underpass behind the Station Hotel on Warrington Street is frequented by drug dealers and takers often leaving used needles on the ground, it is a danger to the general public especially to the children at the nearby school, the police and the council are aware of the problems but appear to be reluctant to take steps to close an underpass that is no longer needed, besides the drugs it's also frequented by groups of youths leaving piles of rubbish and intimidating the general public, this underpass needs closing before an innocent person is hurt. Please sign this petition and show Tameside Council that we are all United in getting the underpass closed to keep the local population and school children safe.

I have been robbed at knife point twice. Once punched for my bag from a druggie and sexually abused by a guy under this bypass all within 15 years. I have reported and told the council time and time again someone will get murdered here and they never listened perhaps now they will
There’s a Sea Cadet unit across the road from the steps that lead to the underpass, it’s a matter of when not if something bad is to happen in that area.
There really is no need for this with the above ground crossings nearby, it's become a drug den that's dangerous for the kids playing nearby, do the right thing for us all and close it off, thanks guys.
I have to walk through there with a 2 year old and I have had to push his pram around needles and alsorts on the ground and now he wants to be out of pram more but its not safe for him
I have used this subway a couple of times when walking my dogs only to find broken glass, used syringes and puddles of urine. It’s a health hazard

Dangerous and unsafe underpass. When I lived nearby, I witnessed all the behaviour which is regularly described, at all times of the day and night. And I never felt safe using it, despite it being a convenient shortcut in terms of it's location. Absolutely brick it up.
