I’ve been left in Fentanyl and a tricyclic for years, wanted to come off when I successfully managed my pain with other techniques. Constant suggestions from medics to reduce but no alternatives given or explaintions why opioids don’t work. Zero support when I wanted to come off. Went too fast and dumped into protracted withdrawal. Its been worse than the pain condition, broken my brain and my life.
Medics and medical system and pharmaceutical companies MUST step up and take responsibility for wrecking people's lives.

There has been a lot of talk, a lot of research, a lot of initiatives, hundreds of online groups, the need is obvious.. 2020 ACTION is desperately needed for people who are suffering prescribed harm. It is so important too to prevent others from suffering. Informed consent is essential for All concerned

I fully support my sister Marion Brown and her colleagues in the push to raise the awareness and concern of these medications and the struggle people have to withdraw from taking them.
I have first hand experience of the struggles they cause and am fully aware that there is little or no help with coming off them.

It’s vital that education on this subject be part of prescribing medications that can cause a physical dependence and harsh withdrawal syndrome.

If drs prescribe these medications they also need to know how to safely taper people off them.

If the medical system/doctors are responsible for prescribing these drugs then they must be responsible for the adverse reactions/withdrawal and damage their patients suffer (often with no support)

It’s abundantly clear that this issue is escalating beyond control. Support services To help patients deal with properly managed withdrawal is, to my mind, essential.

Much needed. Lots of desparate people with zero support.
