The city of Winnipeg's current policy does not provide any compensation to any damage caused by city water main break.

This ancient policy protects the the city government at the expense of the general public. This policy is foundementally wrong. It is the city's responsiblity to properly maintain its infrastructure. Blaming any water main break on weather, or as an act of God simply does not make sense.

A 1989 Supreme Court decision states that the governenmnet is no different than your next door neighbor when it comes to damage compensation.

Why would any citizen has to suffer financial and emotional stress for the city's neglect? Winnipeg, now is the time to take a stand.

Show the city that you support fair compensation for flood damage casued by water main break. Show the city that you care. Sign this petition! Tell your friends, family, and your co-workers!
