Take Down Red Light Cameras - Ontario Canada
Red light camera offenses need to be stopped! You may not think much of them now and may even support them, but if you have or do receive an offense notice regardless of why, you will not be happy. In Ontario the fine is now $325 dollars! The only good news (but one of the most important reasons why they are not as great as cities promote) is that you do not receive demerit points and claims are that your insurance rates are not affected.
There are many reasons why they need to be stopped. A few include:
-You can and will be convicted entirely based on one digital photograph or photo produced by a commercial company that may get a cut of the fine.
-You are assumed guilty and have to prove your innocence
-The owner of the vehicle is charged, not the driver
-Studies show that most types of accidents at intersections equipped with the cameras increase
-The charge is pretty much impossible to win in court because of modifications to legislation.
-They do not prevent dangerous intersection conditions
Please review and join the cause.
I agree red lights should not be run, but there are many ways including a "yellow light count down" or lengthening the time before a light turns green for cross traffic.
