I am a Mt. Lebanon resident who believes that the Mt. Lebanon Municipal Government, including its Commissioners, ("Municipal Government") should not be governing its residents through bloodshed. Further, I am opposed to violence, including the unnecessary and purposeful killing and wounding of deer within Mt. Lebanon. Regardless of its position on violence, I urge the Municipal Government to conclude that the high density of Mt. Lebanon's population prohibits it from initiating or supporting all efforts and/or programs, the purpose of which is the unnecessary killing of deer. I advocate a progressive and comprehensive non-lethal plan of action. For that reason, I pledge to:
Observe all deer crossing signs.
Take responsibility of my garden by planting deer resistant plants and using nonlethal methods of protecting my garden.
Trim all bushes, shrubs, and trees close to streets to improve sight lines and create better visibility for both drivers and deer.
Stop feeding deer directly or indirectly by way of bird feeders.
Drive defensively at active times such as dawn, dusk, and during the Fall rut (mating season).
Contact our Commission either by email ([email protected]) or during Citizen Comments and urge them to manage deer via nonlethal methods in our densely populated community.
Pass along this peaceful message to my neighbors and friends in Mt. Lebanon.
By signing this pledge, I vow to coexist with nature in a friendly, cost effective, community wide and collaborative effort.

The momentum is incredible. My neighbors are clearly ready for a nonlethal approach.

I sign this "pledge" with the understanding that I am not opposed to hunting - in the proper venue. Due to its population density, Mt. Lebanon is not a proper venue. I am also overlooking the word "progressive" in the pledge.
I do not believe that our parks, where our kids play and where we go to be close to nature, should be used to corral and kill animals.
I prefer to coexist with the deer population and oppose to any violence against them
If we "cull" (please rell me why we're not using the word " kill" or more appropriately "senselessly and violently slaughter") the deer future generations will look back with shame and wonder how something so evil could have been permitted. A few of the wealthier residents are pushing for this-which really makes me wonder if illegal payoffs, favors, etc. are why this is even being considered.
Please slow down where deer crossing signs are posted. Drive safetly and no speeding. The people cause the accidents not the Deer. Mt. Lebanon is not a shooting range. Please do not slaughter our Deer they have a right ti be here too.
It's time for all of us to join hands across Mt. Lebanon in the sprit of peaceful coexistence. Violence breeds violence. Let's end it. Stop the deer killing.
Mt. Lebanon is NOT an extension of the PA Gamelands and should not be premitted to be used as one by the hunters of Western Pennsylvania who are in awe of our healthy and extremely well-fed deer and are looking for more trophy animals! I am in favor of the Coalition for Coexistence and will be waiting for my yard signs. The days of FIVE Garden Biddies being the actual shadow government must be brought to an end!

Surgical sterilization (removal of ovaries is best) has shown to be successful in many areas and many states. Even NIH has employed White Buffalo for the deer population on their Maryland campus.
