Several Student Unions' throughout Canada and Internationally have begun taking a stance on the sale of disposable plastic water bottles on campus. The reason behind the push is the environmental concern that lies with water bottles being used and thrown away each day.

In New Brunswick, a province so heavily focused on nature, resources and the environment, we need to continue taking strides to better our province, in turn bettering our country, and the lives of those living here.

The University of New Brunswick currently has a contract with PEPSI Co. which will expire in 2015. This contract allows for the sale of water, pop and juice on campus. The hope of UNB's Student Union and the Environment & Sustainability Committee is to begin creating a culture for reusable water bottles and trust that the faculty, staff and students will support this important 'green' initiative.

In signing this petition you are supporting the following statement: "I declare we TAKE BACK THE TAP at the University of New Brunswick. I believe that UNB should discontinue the sale of disposable plastic water bottles on campus." (Please note: the sale of water will be present at "wet" events for health and safety reasons.)

Thank you for your continued support.
