I always enjoy reading your articles. They are mostly researched beyond what everyone else may have at their near disposal.
You have clearly compared democracy to a religion like Christianity. Very good work! But you are wrong! Democracy is not a religion! It is a theory that although is not the best, it is not the worst. There is no other theory better than democracy. Try communism.
PaulKagame as a seating president who has done a lot to his country should by now had empowered his countrymen to take it over and move it forward. That after 20 years in power and no Rwandan believes they can take the achievements forward, I find it embarrassing and unthinkable. In the words of Barack Obama he has failed his people. He (Kagame) has promoted himself as the only Jesus in that small country.
What happens, God forbid he passes away? Will Rwanda go back to the dogs. My guess as well as yours are correct. Rwanda will move forward with a possibility of moving much further than what has/can been experienced. The African saying here may apply "A son who has not eaten from other families, thinks his mother is the best cook".
Are Rwandan correct to ask for what they want? Of course they are. How sure are we the different forces that have been put in place are not affecting their decisions?
Term limits where not met for good leaders to leave, they where met that Good leaders do not instigate (or try even) that they are the only ones available, and anything else is disaster. So, if the laws of the game are changed during play, it is not acceptable. Try expanding the goal post in football, say during world cup. With all the state machinery at their disposal without Term limits in Africa, many leaders will be willing to stay on.
I am for term limits, because, it is the only way that even you Andrew, John, Juliet etc or more unborn son or daughter can dream to be a president of this great nation!
