National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Bergen/Passaic Chapter request your support by signing this petition to request that our state legislative representatives approve proposed Assembly Bill 3363 expeditiously. The proposed Bill seeks to establish and implement the Children’s Health Promotion Fund, designed to ensure the expansion of programs that provide comprehensive direction to;
- Improve access to, and encourage the consumption of healthy, safe, and affordable foods and beverages to low income children
- Provide education to the same communities on the importance of proper diet and physical activity to prevent childhood obesity
- Raise public awareness about educational and public health approaches that promote sound nutritional choices and healthy lifestyles.
NCBW, Bergen/Passaic is a strong advocate to reduce the health disparities in communities affected by lack of knowledge and access to healthy nutritional alternatives. Our concern here is that unhealthy nutrition and lifestyles in children can lead to obesity-related issues in adults such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, arthritis, and obesity related cancer. The momentum behind this push proves the legislature can no longer ignore the health crisis facing our children. Our state representatives are dragging their feet on Assembly Bill 3363 while families suffer the consequences of their inaction. We are keeping the pressure on until they stop making excuses and pass this fund.

PLEASE PASS A3363. we need these programs now before things get worse for the next generation of our kids.
kids are eating nothing but processed trash these days because its all they can afford. this bill is long overdue for our neighborhoods.
Childhood obesity is an outgrowth of adult obesity. This is a first step. However, we, as a nation, need to address the epidemic of adult obesity, too. If one parent is obese, there is a 50% chance that the child will be obese. If both parents are obese, there is an 80% chance of childhood obesity.
As a physician, I cannot overemphasize the critical importance of addressing the obesity which has profited America's food industry, as it takes shortcuts and increases artificial food processing for capital gains at the expense of our children.
This has been a long time problem in our community and it's time we took a stance on the issue.
I support this petition.
It's not just about diet and exercise, but about lifestyle choices.
