There are enough controls in place to protect this site.
We need to be mindful of the fact that our standard of living can only be maintained through growth, Our governments are broke and wish for the rest of us to follow down their path.
Please allow 10,000 people to have a job!

I am a geologist who has been made redundant recently. Having been in this industry for the past 5 years, I can safely say that there are many geologists much like myself who studied for this field because we are passionate about the Earth and understanding the processes. Part of the study (and also where the jobs are) included subjects on the discovery of mineral resources and the mining process. I know for a fact that if progress is to be made in developing cleaner more efficient methods and technologies with regards to mining, this industry needs to be allowed stand up and show that it can be done. To be honest, at present, it feels like this industry is being stifled due to the lack of understanding by groups of people who are against it.

So far these activists have been spreading unfounded rumours as truths and delaying legitimate, responsible mining operations. Queenslanders need jobs. Communities and small towns need the business to survive.

The health of primary industries in Australia is fundamental to maintaining the Australian quality of life that we all enjoy. These industries can only operate in communities where they are welcomed - this will always be the case. Hijacking of viable projects for dubiously 'green' reasons is an abuse of power and process.

unfortunately some member of our society are disconnected from the reality of where stuff comes from. Meat comes in polystyrene packet in a fridge, energy from renewables (magic technologies that do not exist), mobile phones from California. Truth is to make an omelette an egg or two must be broken. More and more Aussies need to get in touch with reality - and maybe living off the grid without refrigeration or just the electric light one can get (and store) from a windmill or photovoltaic cell might be just the medicine needed.

The ability of a small pressure group to impose its desires in the face of comprehensive government and scientific evaluations is a recipe for disaster. While we cannot stop emotional half-truths and lies being peddled by the activists and lapped up by the media, we can change the regulatory process to ensure projects are approved on a rational and scientific basis.

Minerals and energy are essential part of our all our everyday life and well being - look around and try to observe what materials you are using or around you that do not involve mining of some form. Mining is essential for our water food shelter health travel - everything then there are the economic and employment benefits and best coming from Australia than overseas imports which typically have less quality control and environmental good practice as Quuendland Australia has.

The resource industry should have nothing to fear from proper process. It is clear that so called green groups have evolved and are much more sophisticated and well funded than in the past and are therefore abusing proper processes to frustrate proponents and scare capital away from Qld and Australia. The community deserves to have its say and award a social license to worthwhile resource projects, this does not include the hijacking of these communities opinions by outsiders who destroy value and jobs for those communities which host resource projects.
