Facts are what matter and science is only one element of the story. Locals have an interest and it is not vested where that implies selfishness. Having an interest evokes an opinion and democratic principles espouse free speech. The green movement as a collective distorts truth and manipulate minds and the perfectly democratic and valid individual interest of green supporters is corrupted and trashed by those who seek to pervert the proper formation of public opinion and the collective interest in the matter. If the engineers of the devious green propaganda machine valued truth and valued the dignity of society then any campaigning they did would fall into being no different to the right that the "vested" interest has. There must be must more intellectual rigour in this debate and less flaky populism. Australia has a vested interest in the proper process of change and both industry leaders and political leaders and those green leaders whose aspirations are not perverted by extremist ideological fanaticism ALL HAVE A VESTED INTEREST in finding balance in both debate and action. Coal is not finished. There is a necessary transition and that is where balanced discussion must bring to the minds of individual Australians that it is essential to be aware of what the core debate is and who is trying to deceive them.

Over 1 billion people on this planet live without electricity. They burn dung, cardboard, and twigs indoors to cook and stay warm. This indoor pollution is not only 10 times higher than in the cities of advanced nations, but it is responsible for 3.5 million deaths each year. For the world’s most poorest and most vulnerable people, coal-fired electricity is a necessity. The thermal coal from the Galilee Basin is some of the highest quality thermal coal available. The projects proponents undergo a rigorous and lengthy environmental assessment process. Yet………..phenomenally, these projects are opposed by people who live a comfortable existence with access to electricity, healthcare, social services and other amenities most of which is paid for or constructed as a result of the mineral extraction they object to. Why are these objectors so selfish? I support this petition.

Bureaucracy has gone mad when legal loopholes allow a deceitful green group such as the McKay Conservation group hold up $ billions of Indian Investment to save a skink and an ornamental snake. This group who has been funded by their deceitful "save the reef" campaigns at taxpayer expense with only one objective To "Stop Coal" . With GREENPEACE, GETUP (and even the QLD Gov't! ), supporting them from their coffers ($28m and $8m raised respectively in 2014 from similar "Save the Reef" campaigns duping the public), legal loopholes have been used to stop massive ADANI & GVK investment, destroying job capability, QLD royalties, taxes & undermining the livelihoods of Queenslanders in many regional towns such as Bowen.

International investment is currently flowing to IRAN rather than Australia due to the ability of any interested entity to slow down and frustrate approvals. Government needs to establish new legislation and development planning schemes to deal with major investment.

We are faced with a stark choice, a healthy economy and a thriving community, or to watching our enviable standard of living decline to that of a Banana Republic.The State Government risks denying Queenslanders the benefits of overseas investments in all sectors, bot just mining, if they continue to frustrate the efforts of Galilee Basin developers to get through the approvals process. If the State Government sees fit to allow every ENGO and individual to object on any vexatious or frivolous grounds to a properly presented application for a mining lease, then without doubt we will all suffer. I frightens me that they are so driven by political expediency that they cant see which side of the bread is buttered. Shame Shame Shame
