I'd like to have the flag removed, as it contains negative history.

Who said any one else wouldn't be welcomed?

Please take down. In the current contemporary racial climate I find it offensive, rude and not consistent with the university's wish and goal to obtain and retain diverse talent.

There's going to be a forum next week for questions on the demands. You should come out and get your question answered.

Are you seriously asking for a dedicated "safe space" on campus where white people would be unwelcome?

Very proud of the students who organized this protest. They did this in a non-violent manner, which was a great way to express themselves .

This flag isn't a symbol of "southern heritage"; it was adopted during reconstruction in the 1890's. It's a symbol of hate, bigotry, and structural violence. Take it down!

Mississippi must move forward and design a flag that will unite all Mississippians. Take down the divisive flag that represents hatred and bigotry to so many, both inside and outside of our state.

If Ole Miss & USM can do take the confederate (state) flag down, why can't MSU?

Attended MSU from 1975-1978 and I hope for hundreds of attendees at your protest. We need to change the flag to one flag for all.

It is not of freedom the MS flag is supported. It is by law the symbol of the Confederacy flies above our state buildings. If you want United people in MS the symbol of the Confederacy must be taken down and used by private citizens and museums.

The MS state flag is divisive and does nothing to bring the people of this state together. MSU supports diversity; having a flag on campus that harkens back to a time when diversity was not part of the conversation and the state was fighting to keep a whole group of people enslaved is a poor representation of MSU's spirit of inclusion and diversity. Symbols have meaning. What is MSU saying by keeping the state flag flying on our campus? Michelle Wait

What we must do now is what should have been done before. But there is an opportunity to make a difference so that the present will not be stained by the past.
