The decision to start an online petition was a difficult one for the team. We felt that there were no other ways of having the desired impact.

Jazakallah for the tremendous amount of support shown. Our intentions were clean, and we ask Allah to forgive us for any shortcomings.

Excluding the offensive and personal messages, there were 870 signatories, with 283 unique comments received within 24 hours. Only 48 signatories were anonymous.

The petition will be handed to the committee shortly.

In the meantime everyone needs to play an active role in driving a positive change in our community. Don't just say "someone should do something", be the change you wish to see.

Remain engaged with the committee and participate in the activities taking place in the masjid.
