It is time for Committee members to stop imagining guilt or disrespect where none exists. My Class of '76 year book proudly displays a full-length brave on the cover. Only a complete fool like Dennis Powell would associate the symbol, the banner, the mascot we competed under as some sort of movie character to be disrespected. He should resign or be removed for his comments.

I don't agree that we should changing the name at all. I don't believe anyone is offended by the name. It's a symbol of our school and the people from past and present who have gone there and continue to go Taconic. How shameful to take that away.

If I’m reading this right a Brave associated with the American Indian is considered to be an honor to be called one. There is nothing derogatory about this word , people just need to find a reason to bitch.

The committee is catering to a vocal minority while ignoring the vast majority of Native Americas who take no offense. Stop erasing them from the society we all share.

All the Native Americans I personally know are 1) not offended at all by the name and imagery and 2) offended that you want to erase them.

Please do not go through with this moronic initiative. We as a city have more pressing issues than made up problems, let us address those before we create ones.
