You probably thought that, as official representative of a murderous regime, the Syrian ambassador would have already been asked to leave the UK by the Foreign Office.

Think again! He's still here, living comfortably in London while the regime he represents has killed, tortured, displaced thousands of Syrians over the past year, and it continues and escalates every day.

Assad's divisive sectarian strategy is not working - minority groups are also demonstrating.

The largest demo was in Bab Touma, the Christian area of the city of Old Damascus. Druze minorities have also demonstrated in Sweida, southern Syria. They realise that Assad is leading them over the edge of a cliff into a dark void that will destroy Syria.

This petition calls on the UK Foreign Secretary, William Hague, to immediately send the Syrian Ambassador back to Damascus. The UK should not be harbouring official representatives of murderous regimes. At the meeting in Tunis the Foreign Secretary said that the UK supported the Syrian Opposition and the people of Syria. Allowing the Syrian ambassador to remain in the UK contradicts that statement and does not send a strong message of support.
