They actually took the signs down this morning and I am honestly still in shock that this nightmare is over for us. It feels so surreal to finally drive down Berry Hill without having to hunt for a route because of those ridiculous restrictions that never should have been there …
As of this week new traffic signs have been erected on Renee Road and East Street. The new signs restrict a left turn off Berry Hill Road onto Renee Road. This change now prohibits any left turn until entering the Town of Syosset for all southbound Berry Hill Road traffic. The restrictions are not only during school hours but extend to 9 pm at night. These restrictions affect thousands of Syosset and surrounding residents. Residents of Renee Road (effectively 25 or so houses) have pushed for this change without regard to the serious negative impact to all the surrounding neighborhoods and residents. The traffic being funneled into town will make the already congested area impossible to navigate for commuters and Syosset residents alike. Please sign this petition to have these signs immediately removed and have our voices heard.
I checked the count just now and we are hovering right near that big 500 milestone which honestly feels wild considering how fast this blew up. If everyone who already signed pulls in just one neighbor who lives around here we might actually have enough leverage to get someone in the town office to pick up the phone for once instead of ignoring us.

I was looking at the screen just now and we keep inching toward that hundred mark which is wild because I honestly thought it would take way longer to get people talking about these ridiculous signs. If you can just blast the link out to a couple neighbors right this second maybe we can actually hit that triple digit milestone before I head out to grab some coffee since my brain is completely fried trying to figure out how they thought this traffic pattern would work for anybody.

the bigger issue is safety as people are now making u-turns(which are still legal) the problem is just south of that area is a blind curve where people won't be able to see a vehicle u turning / an obvious safety issue !!!

Obviously someone has a politician in their pocket! This will create a greater number of cars in the center of Syosset – adding to the railroad problems (both the train crossings and the parking lot disruptions of traffic). Driving through the center of town is already difficult and annoying!

These street signs will cause chaos all throughout the rest of syosset. Those who purchased their homes on Renee knew they were buying a house on a double yellow line. That is a choice they made. It is unfair the rest of Syosset should suffer.

now, all north Syosset residents will be forced to make an unassisted left on to cold spring harbor road rather than a safer right hand turn off of Renee onto CSH road. It should take 22 minutes to travel a mile through Syosset.

This is just making matters worse. The congestion is bad enough in town without this and now it will be unbearable. I don't undestand how this can happen without getting input from the local residents beyond just Renee Road.

This is a very bad plan. It forces traffic into the already over-congested area where Berry Hill Road meets Cold Spring Road. Due to the train going through town, these roadways are already backed up to Horton. It will now take me 30 minutes to get my child 4 blocks to school. There has to be another solution.

The signs are now down and should stay dowm. They are an outrageous encumbrance on the ability of the residents of the surroundin area to get to their children's schools and to travel to points east. The nightmare of Syosset traffic is grossly aggravated. One can only wonder what they were thinking.
