Hello!! My name is Sydney Williams. I would like to secure your vote as the SBA Secretary for the 2023-2024 school year. Being new here to Detroit, UDM Law has become my second home and I would love the opportunity to give back to my community.

The SBA can increase and further the support of the students. I want to be a part of this board to be the positive line of communication between the students and staff. My past experiences in leadership have prepared me for the role of the SBA Secretary. As a captain of the Central Michigan Gymnastics team, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative for CMU, and a member of the Athletic Director’s Table for the university. I obtained opportunities to represent and be the voice of my team and the female athletes of CMU. During these roles, I had to communicate with coaches, teammates, CMU’s athletic staff, and express the needs of female athletes in all sports. During my time as a part of the Student Advisory Committee, I helped include a diversity and inclusion role in the athletic staff, and assisted in adding new amenities to women’s locker rooms so they would receive the same resources as male athletes at the university. As I have served on these committees, I learned that informing students about what is going on in their community is very important. I plan to utilize these past experiences to ensure the needs of the student body is being met.
