Your support is crucial to the lives of Palestinians who are trapped by a brutal military occupation. Support human rights, equality and peace. Boycott Israel.

This is one of several peitions circulating that I am signing. I will be supporting all efforts to bring attention to SXSW panels hosting supporters of grnocide and apartheid. SX should know better.

Anyone who thinks that the current political configuration of Israel deserves endorsement by cultural events in our country had ought to read this open letter to the New York Times, sent by prominent members of the Jewish community including no less than the famed Albert Einstein. Quoth this letter, "Among the most disturbing political phenomena of our times is the emergence in the newly created state of Israel of the 'Freedom Party' (Tnuat Haherut), a political party closely akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist parties. It was formed out of the membership and following of the former Irgun Zvai Leumi, a terrorist, right-wing, chauvinist organization in Palestine." The letter documents that Israel itself was being forged with terrorist tactics towards Palestinians with the aim of displacing, dispossessing, and killing them off for a specific definition of Jewish nationalism that the writers pointed out was dangerous to the future of that land. This violent nationalism has needlessly embedded itself into Israel's politics and made the relationship between Jews and Palestinians during Ottoman rule over a century ago seem utopian by comparison. We should not be legitimizing one of the worst violations of human rights by a government so bitterly opposed by the very people it claims to represent. Please, SXSW, divest from violent nationalist apartheid in Israel.
