PETITIONTO SWINDON CLINICAL COMMISSIONING GROUP AND SWINDON BOROUGH COUNCIL

Everyone should have the right to decide what treatment they would prefer when they are ill. Literature explaining forms of treatment which do not involve conventional drugs are not publicly available. The many real issues regarding drug safety, side effects, withdrawn drugs, deaths and suicides are not being shared with Swindon residents.

The NHS constitution gives us the right to be involved in all decisions affecting our health and yet in Swindon we are denied the right.

Patient participation, opinion and experience have been minimal in setting the frameworkfor choice of treatment. Whether by accident or design, the relevant committees meet at times unfriendly to working people so our participation is blocked.

The accompanying petition calls on the Swindon Borough Council to rectify this unacceptable discrimination to implement the availability of information to immediately allow representation of specialists in all fields of healthcare on every committee where decisions are made which affect patient health.

THE NHSBELONGS TO THE PEOPLE. It is OUR NHS,not their NHS.

In accordance with the principles of inclusion and involvement expressed inONESWINDON, ONE VOICEthe right of the NHS constitution and the provisions of equality act. I confirm my right to be included in all decisions affecting my health and wellbeing.

I call on Swindon Borough Council and Swindon Clinical Commissioning Group to implement equal representation on the Swindon Clinical Commissioning Group, Health and Wellbeing Board and all other committees within the Borough so that all committees include specialists in alternative and complementary medicine as well as experienced and knowledgeable lay people who will participate fullyin all future consultations and decisions concerning health and wellbing for all Swindon residents.

I further call on Swindon Borough Council to make and allow appropriate information on alternative and complementary medicine freely available in all places of public access so that all residents may have the option to make informed choices to support their own and their family's healthcare.
