We the undersigned community peacefully assemble to petition the Honorable Judges of the Norfolk General District Court, the Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney, our Mayor Kenneth Alexander and our elected officials who have the power to redress this tragic situation involving Mr. Isaiah Swift who was shot in the back while fleeing from a Norfolk Police Officer. Mr. Swift had recently been discharged from hospital care after a major operation which compromised his immune system and left him defenseless to fight off bacteria and viruses! During this pandemic-Covid-19-coronavirus time, we ask that the scales of JUSTICE not JUST-US be balanced by giving him a meaningful opportunity to regain his health and live to face the NPD criminal allegations as well as his against the NPD! We are simply asking that he be treated humanely and given a bail! We ask as a community that this bail not be so unreasonable as to be an insult to our plea for human decency but fair on its own terms! We ask that you all do not sink into political correctness or personal biases but to respect your roles to your constituents! We respectfully ask for his immediate release!

My son unfortunately was in the same situation in Newport News City Jail a year ago. These people do not care about our young Black Men! I stand with your family in the fight to get him home. You all are in my prayers.
Let this man heal at home. With the corruption going on in this case there should be a full investigation. And this mans life should not be in jeopardy while the facts are sorted out
When people disobey the law they get jail time I get that, but to have a body part removed and to be permanently damaged for a non life threatening crime while being locked away is a bit much. Damaged body is equivalent to time served in this case please free this young man your honor.
This young man deserves justice and mercy and to be treated as a human being. We vicious animals more justly than this. He was shot in the back meaning he was not threat to the police and deserve to at least keep his stay in the hospital to heal before being transferred to a covid-19 infested jail.
My daughter’s Father is NOT suicidal! He wants to live he DESERVES TO LIVE! He has daughters out here who love & need Isaiah Swift. IF you have children then out of all you should understand CHILDREN NEED THEIR FATHER WE NEED ISAIAH SWIFT #Justice4ISAIAHSWIFT #Justice4SWIFTISAIAH

He doesn’t deserve this, especially due to his health problem. He can be easily targeted from this virus due to his weak immune system. The jails and etc are already filthy and bacteria is everywhere! He could easily be contacted with COVID-19! Release him please, and thanks.
