Dear Wilpons and Mets Management,
As Mets fans, we are not happy that "Sweet Caroline" is still played at Mets games. Last year, you asked us, the fans, to vote on a song to be played. We did. "Sweet Caroline" was not the winner. It should not be played any more. Why ask our opinions if you don't honor them That is a bigger disgrace than not asking us at all!
In the baseball world, this song is tied to the Red Sox, not the Mets. We as Mets fans are a proud people. There is no pride knowing that we stole the Red Sox song.
With the opening of Citi Field, a new tradition has been brought upon us with all of the amenities of the beautiful building. Why not start a new tradition: a song, that, when it is heard, people say: "That's a Mets song!"
It's time to continue forging out unique identity as the New York Mets. All we ask is that you allow the fans to choose the song and please respect our decision. Thank you.
The feedback from the comment section proves that I am not alone in this frustration. It is exhausting to keep pushing for an identity that should be obvious to everyone involved in the organization. We are still waiting for a real response but I am not going to drop this.

Reaching this level of support makes it clear that we are tired of being ignored by management. It is exhausting to keep fighting for something as simple as our own identity at the ballpark. I am staying in this until they finally listen to us.

Enough with that song already. It belongs in Boston and it sounds terrible at Citi Field. lets get something original.
