Sweatin' the Sweatpants
Don't Sweat The Sweatpants!
Here at Explore Academy, we thrive on choice. Most of us came here because of all the freedom that we have here, and we love it! We wear dress code shirts for safety and unity purposes, but where's the choice in the other pieces of clothing that we wear? Why can't we have freedom in what pants we wear? Many of us play sports, and sweat pants promote a healthy lifestyle, as do basketball shorts. It's pretty hard to play basketball in jeans, don't you agree? I understand sweatpants were banned because some were too tight, and others were being sagged, but that doesn't mean all sweatpants should be banned. We need to have the choice of joggers, soccer pants, yoga pants, tracksuit pants, skinny jeans, or whatever kinds of other jeans that we students want to wear. And if you're a student who only wears jeans, then great! But consider the other students, think about how passionate they feel about being comfortable, and dressing practically for themselves. Sign this for them. However, I think we can compromise on no pajamas, no spandex, no sweats with holes in them, and no sagging. Explore Academy is a college prep school, and as college students do, we should be allowed to choose apparel that suits us the best. Comfort and practicality are important aspects of the learning environment.
