I owned a DR 650 for several years and it was dependable. It is way overdue for an upgrade . With 50 years of experience I recommend:
1. 6 speed transmission, 2. fuel injection, 3. A little wind protection for the highway sections4. A decent seat, 5. Lighter if possible

Save the DR650 by upgrading it and riders will buy it. Doesn't Ned all the electronics, but update the fueling system, suspension, and brakes!

Come on Suzuki, was biggest selling bike in NZ over 500cc year after year!
You just need to upgrade a few things to bring it into 21st century!
6 speed gearbox would be nice
EFI definitely
Loose the 5kg muffler (we all use aftermarket 1.2kg units)
improve suspension
relocate footpegs (we arent ALL 55kg and 160cm tall)
raise handlebars
pad the seat better, (I make my own now on my sixth DR650SE)

I have a 1998 that’s not worth replacing with a new one since the only difference would be no miles and heavier weight between the ‘98 and a new one.

You let Yamaha beat you to the refresh with the Tenere. Let's show then what a modern dual sport is!
