I found my niece after 37 years. She had been extremely neglected by her mother who dumped her off in a state institution telling them that she was born severely retarded. I took care of her before her mother ever did and she was as healthy and normal as any child I'd ever seen.
I was successfully awarded full guardianship. Lufkin State School broke the law when they did not discharge her to me at that time. I ended up renting a room in Lufkin so I could be closer than 90 miles and get to see her everyday. Three weeks after I looked for a criminal record for my landlord on the Texas Dept of Public Safety website **and** after his mother told me I had nothing to worry about with him, he went out on a 36-hour cocaine binge, came home looking for more money, and assaulted both of us. Now the judge thinks I am a crackhead and a whore. Even though I tried to check him out, even though his mother lied to me, and even though Adult Protection Services conducted an investigation and totally exonerated me from knowing there was any danger, this judge still will not move her to a loving home.
justice for this family! the system is totally broken if they let this happen. just let her go home with her aunt she has been through enough already.

This is completely unfair. That poor woman was just trying to help her niece and now she is being punished for something she didnt even do. Let her take her home where she belongs!
