Susanna Ledesma Woody for NPC
I believe in DSA’s principles and that my experience, motivation and perspective would be beneficial on the NPC at this time of exponential growth in membership.
Here is a brief BIO
I am a 36-year-old Mexican American woman whose family has lived here for four generations. I have been married for the past 12 years to my African American husband Roy and together we have three children who are growing up in Trump's America. Now more than ever before it is imperative that we recruit, incorporate, and amplify the voices and views of working class people of color. My background as an organizer comes from fighting for equity in communities in and around Austin, TX, which have historically been and continue to be underserved. Much of my focus is on working towards achieving educational equity, and I am on my 8th year serving as a school board trustee for Del Valle ISD.
My roots are rural. I grew up in Stoney Point which is near the Bastrop county line and is an area that has been without responsive representation for decades. The infrastructure and educational institutions of that area illustrate the state of neglect residents continue to face.
I am connected to a network of grassroots activists and have made it a stated aim to use my role within progressive and democratic-socialist communities to enact much needed policy change and improve historically underserved communities.
I am a project manager at a global technology company responsible for planning, procurement, development and execution of engineering projects.
Furthermore, I will continue to work to make the world more welcoming and inclusive for all people, to advocate for people over profit and will stand strongly in opposition to the military-industrial complex, all while continuing to fight alongside other marginalized groups.
Thank you for your support,
