It is a national scandal that we can build improvements to the "Mad Cow" and a Luas line and can't employ a surgeon for ordinary people to have life saving operations.

It is unacceptable for a modern 1st world Health Service to allow such a gap in service to occur, and continue. Either provide the service directly, arrange for alternative cover, or redirect funding to enable Private service provision!
I believe we should have a surgeon here in Ireland as many people who are ill can't travel long distance and it would cause them a lot of stress.
