Surfside Beach Chair Ordinance

current ordinance is just alot of work for no good reason. red tape brought on by jealous neighbors who never come to the beach.

We are respectful of the neighborhood. We clean up, and only set up what is anticipated.

Beach chairs allowed in front of a particular Building

Elected officials should try to make residents lives easier not more complicated and costly. Also help preserve the environment!!!!

I hope the ordinance for the beach chairs can be amended . More convenient for everyone.

There should be no beach chair ordinances. None. Building owners protect their valuable beach chairs and, to my knowledge, there have been no complaints from the public regarding beach chair congestion. Beach chair ordinances are bureaucratic overreach.

Agree with petition

These regulations have been nothing more that “one up’s a ship” by various past commissioners to “gin” up their votes. They are expensive to implement, crazy on the beach personnel, and accomplish little because there is so much beach available in any event. There are whole tent cities erected on the beach by the general public. This ordinance is a solution looking for a problem that is really making one on its own

The restrictions on the beach chairs are ridiculous. In the 15 years we have lived at the Azure there has never been a problem and the public has always been able to share the beach.

I have for years been part of all the meetings in which our beaches and it's chair have been an issue. We are just as much residents of Surfside and pay much more taxes than the few homes in Surfside. But we are not respected. This is the reason we chose to place our votes in this election where we feel the commission understand that we are not second hand citizen. The past election was done in the middle of covid and it turned out to choose people that only care about the penalizing us because we lived on the ocean. But you cannot say it was all of the commissioners, but before the knew it because of the covid and Zoom meeting we became national news all over because we had a commissioner that would stick her middle finger at the mayor. Her excuse in National News was, that she came from New York and that's what they did there. Sorry, we have in our building many residents from New York which now have chosen Fl as their residence and they were appaled when they hear that she said that. We have many more NewcYorkers calling Miami and Florida home. This should change the voting in Surfside and I will work very hard to make then vote. Stop penalizing us for the chairs. See what we have now. Halloebmver Beach is resurfing their parking lots for a long time. Where do they go? Surfside. That's why the guidelines that are required for the residents of the condo owners in Surfside are not the same for the world. You require that we have our place clean, but not the outside world. Please lets stop punishing our condo owners. This has to stop.

I hope the ordinance for the beach chairs can be ammended to allow for a safer and More manageable operation for all buildings in Surfside.

This has been a true burden and inconvenience for most importantly the residents and families with small children that reside on the properties that are on the actual beach including our elderly community who have to stand under the hot sun sometimes more than 98F for a certain period of time approx. 20 mins while the furniture is moved to the designated space and set up.

The current version of the ordinance is already excessive in scope and exceeds the Town’s narrow and limited police powers to regulate the health, safety and welfare of the public. An even more restrictive policy will cost the condo residents more money to provide the beach chair amenity and is entirely unnecessary. There is no shortage of Beach for everyone to enjoy. The current ordinance scheme should be relaxed, and a less stringent policy is in order.
