Final supporters
Texas Law has suspended our Supreme Court Clinic. The vast majority of elite law schools offer a Supreme Court Clinic, and Texas Law has for many years been in line with its peers in providing students this unique opportunity. As one recent participant put it, “the Supreme Court Clinic offers a set of distinctive educational benefits that is not replicated by other clinics, by skills courses focused on appellate advocacy, or by participation in moot court tournaments.”
We are petitioning Dean Farnsworth to come together with the greater Texas Law and Austin legal community to find a way to save this valuable institution for current and future students and the clients they serve. Regardless of whether you were planning on participating in the clinic, we ask you to join our petition to help underscore the value our community places on its work, on the valuable skill-building opportunities it provides our students, and on the importance of the clinic in maintaining our school's stature. Thank you!

The silence from the administration remains deafening but we are not going anywhere. I have been spending my nights tracking down answers and while the road is long I refuse to let this program disappear without a fight.

Reaching this level of support has been a heavy experience given everything hanging in the balance for our students. It is exhaustion mixed with a quiet realization that we are not fighting this fight alone.

I am an alumna of UT Law. The school’s ability to compete with the highest nationally ranked schools is very important to me. I chose UT over top 14 schools because I thought that its programming was on par with those higher ranked schools. Now, I am perplexed at the decision to discontinue the Supreme Court Clinic because I had the impression that it was both popular and one of the most prestigious clinics that UT Law offered. I believe the school, in the very least, owes its students and alumni an explanation on why it would suspend such a valuable part of its programming.
Maybe I won't be participating in this clinic, but I would consider this as an integral part of a top law school in the country. I remember hearing Professor Blais talking about her team's experience in their last case and it was definitely something that Texas Law should preserve and keep as a tradition.
The Supreme Court clinic was one of my favorite experiences in law school, and it was one of the factors that helped me to choose the University of Texas over other law schools. Students who Participated in the clinic have gone gone on to enjoy successful appellate careers, and alumni from the clinic have even argued before the Supreme Court of the United States. I hope that this clinic can be brought back for students in the future.
The Supreme Court Clinic should not be cut. It was a wonderful experience that afforded me many new learning opportunities. I learned a great deal about the art of and strategy involved in appellate brief writing and about Supreme Court advocacy generally. Moreover, as a student at UT Law who pays tuition, I'm pretty disappointed that whoever made this decision neither involved nor informed students.
The Supreme Court Clinic should not be cut. It was the best academic experience I had at UT Law and something that I will cherish forever. It also brings so much to the school's reputation. The clinic puts UT Law on par with some of the most elite law schools in the country. I sincerely hope the school will reconsider this decision.

If this is one of the main reasons students are choosing UT Law school over other Law programs in the nation, it should be reinstated with an explanation as to why it was repealed in the first place!

Multiple students have been devastated to learn that the clinic they waited to take until 2L or 3L year is no longer being offered. It is a vital part of our curriculum and is what sets Texas Law as a school within the Top 15 standing.
