This is a typical case of miseducation and ignorance amongst our own. These people should be ashamed of themselves for promoting and forcing young girls to damage their hair and their health by using relaxers. They should be teaching young girls to embrace who they naturally are and to be comfortable in the skin that they are in.

I need to do this, because I used to wear straight hair, but women with natural hair made me realize that I'm naturally beautiful and that matters my choices and nobody has the right to judge me for my hair or who I choose to be.

When are Black people going to stop internalising racist beliefs that natural hair is "unkempt" "wild" and "untidy"? The principal of that school is clearly conditioned to those beliefs and enforcing them into the racist policy of appearance and grooming standards.

This is beyond sad and disgusting that we as black women have to create petitions in order to wear the hair God gave us.

This is absurd. I though just maybe it was due to children behind her in class and a visability issue. Her untamed locks are beautiful. To many girls alter and want different because of the norm. It took me 20 some years to love my hair. I am glad she loves her hair while still being young.
