I remember being told I couldn't wear my hair in braids with a little red in them at school!! I was the only black girl in my year though so my mum soon went in to see the headmaster to sort that out (that's Manchester UK in the year 2000 though for ya), the result was that I had to take the red braids out but i could leave the black ones!! 16 years on and my old school is now full of second generation beautiful african and caribbean girls wearing wigs, weaves afro puffs and all sorts haha - support the puff people and move with the times !!!

this is why education is failing and out of control. They worry about everything but academics it's time to clean up education by getting rid of all this crazy educators. school should be fun

This is just too shocking and ridiculous! It's hard to believe that something as just having natural hair would get you suspended from school. Smh. The world needs to change again! This young lady wasn't in the wrong, the school she attends is!

This is ridiculous!! All children should be allow to be themselves. Let us educate our children, not cast judgment or bias on how children wear their Natural hair. Educate these beautiful children!!! Their hair is beautiful and natural

When I was in school I was always told that my natural styles were untidy. I was always discouraged. I'm glad this petition came out. Why we just can't be happy with our natural black roots.
