Income splitting is something that both current and previous Governments have not been keen to adopt. With work / life balance such an important consideration in our health and wellbeing as parents and people in general, allowing a couple / family to income split, would enable one parent to work part-time or stay at home with young children, for example, while the other earns enough to pay the mortgage, bills and so on - without being disadvantaged with high tax.

Caring for elderly parents is now being managed by parents of young school children more so than in the past because we are having children when we are older, demands of the modern world have increased the time needed to run a household, look after children and stay sane!

For the sake of our families, communities and health, income splitting has to be introduced in New Zealand.
