Final supporters
The current School Board Committee is faced with the gargantuan task of building a fiscally responsible budget to support the educational needs of a skyrocketing population. Classroom sizes are growing, school space is fleeting and resources are stretched thin. Creative thinking is imperative right now! School year 2018-2019, families could face changes in school start and end times, and the destruction of individual community school environments with a rezoning of our town and the transition of hundreds of our students. The current favored proposals are:
1) K-1 at Village and would divide the rest of the kids between the other two schools.
2) Put grades 4-5 at Village and divide the younger kids among the other two schools.
Neither of the plans provide a long term solution to our growth. Neither of these plans were supported by the year long research and work done by the re-configuration committee comprised of teachers, parents and concerned community members. Our students need your voice! Please sign this petition supporting the importance of stability, community, and long term solutions by requiring the School Board to vote to maintain the schools and zoning as is until a long term solution can be made. Please also show your support in person at the next work session being held on January 10th at 8:30 on the second floor of the Town Hall building.

We purchased our home in Gorham so our daughters could attend Great Falls, not so they’d be required to change schools every two years. Bouncing between five different schools from K-12 is ridiculous. We have to come up with a better solution.
I support keeping the schools neighborhood based. My daughter will start kindergarten in the fall, but she would be separated from her brother who will be in 4th grade. Not only will she not have her big brother to support her, but with siblings at 2 different schools, that puts a strain on parents as well. Please keep the schools neighborhood based.
My daughter is a 1st grader at Narragansett this sounds awful to take 2nd and 3rd graders and break them up. She is scared she'll lose her friends. She is comfortable with her surroundings, fruends , faculty plus she recieves special help with multiple subjects aND speech. Would she be placed with new teachers for extra help . This would affect her IEP plan. Please keep our children where they are at the schools they are with the friends and faculty they are happy and thriving at.
I am very unhappy with the lack of attention being paid to the efforts of the subcommittee of experts about our children's education. Scientific evidence does NOT support multiple transitions. Furthermore, changing the configuration does nothing to address the long term growth needs.
Having my children in different schools or changing zones, knowing that those of us causing the growth chose our homes based on current zones are not solutions to this problem! We need more new schools. Please take this as a warning that action at the HS level needs to happen soon to prepare for these kids!

I have a son at GF who will be in 3rd grade next year and a daughter entering Kindergarten. We moved just prior to my son entering kindergarten in 2015 to the GF district. Having them both be in different schools, with potential drop off and pick up time issues for both will be virtually impossible in terms of scheduling their activities after school. This is just one of the many issues I see with these 2 options.

I moved into my house 6 years ago because of its close proximity to Village Elementary School. I chose my house knowing that my children would be able to walk to school every day and be together until middle school. I would like to find a long term solution for our towns over populating of the schools.
