This petition is being initiated to show the support of the families whose loved ones are buried at St. Sebastian's cemetery, and those parishioners and others who live in the area of St. Sebastian's church and cemetery. We are petitioning the Most Reverend Bishop Daniel Thomas to reverse his decision on the Relegation of St. Sebastian's church and allow the sacred church to be designated as a chapel, with the understanding it will be supported by a 3rd Party and no longer burdensome on the parish of St. Gaspar del Bufalo.

Please please please do not destroy such a beautiful building! The 3rd party mentioned could not be more reputable and will take excellent care of the facility and the grounds. The building and grounds have been a blessing to so many people for many years. I pray you are lead to reconsider not tearing down this building. Thank you for your prayers and consideration in this matter.

I am very interested to know what the tie to St. Gaspar is for Bishop Thomas. Then again, many decisions were made to change the "twinning" of parishes over the past few years that really made no sense at all. The decisions were made unilaterally and without parishioner approval. Heck, we weren't even made aware of the events until the changes were in motion. I think that the Diocese must understand that the parishioners of this time do not want to be led blindly, but want to be active in all decisions that affect their own parish. I sincerely pray that the Diocese changes its mind regarding the demolition of St Sebastion church and allows the parishioners to maintain the building as a chapel, and to not desecrate the site of a beautiful landmark.
