A thriving city depends on a healthy infrastructure to attract people vested in their communities. The Stuart-Hobson sport facility is a prime example. If the city wants to hold on to the wealth it has atrracted and the tax base it has developed, it must bring projects like this to fruition rather than scuttle them mid-stream. It's a civic bargain.

My 14 year old plays soccer regularly at Stuart Hobson on weekends. There have been many times he has attempted to use the field when there has been adults or another group playing who do not want to share the field. More fields are needed on Capitol Hill.

Our middle school modernization process is almost done. The only thing missing is an acceptable athletic facility and parking facility. Like climbing Everest, going only part way is not very satisfying. Should we not finish the modernization project? Does it really make sense to leave the school with a completely inadequate, non-code compliant parking facility and outdoor recreation space that is too small to be used for anything other than standing and breathing fresh air? The answer is certainly NO if there is a very simple and achievable solution--and there is. Our city leaders need to stop pretending that bandaids will be accepted as solutions. Stuart Hobson desperately needs suitable athletic facilities for its children and suitable parking for its staff and visitors. This is the right thing to do and the community will be relentless in pursuing this until it is achieved. Our schools must become a priority.

The time to do what is right for our children is now. The time to invest in the future of DC is now. The time to believe in what this city should be and can be is now. Where is the leadership in this city that will focus on the people of the city? Because the greatness and potential of this city lies in its people.

This is absolutely essential to serve the growing number of children playing youth sports on Capitol Hill, in order to keep these kids and their families in the District of Columbia.
