Giving psychologists the ability to prescribe in other states is beneficial to all.

Washington State needs this legislature to pass. Having psychologists available to write prescriptions for psychotropic medication is essential as it will help medical doctors with the overbearing load.

I am a psychologist. My clients have to wait six months or more to get a first appointment with a psychiatrist. Most of my clients get anti-depressant medications from their PCPs, without ever being evaluated by someone with expertise in this area.

Prescribing psychologists can provide a single source for both psychotherapy and medication management reducing wait times for intervention and expanding access into rural areas where people with unmet mental health needs are most often underserved by psychiatry.

We have been working towards this for many years. These are services properly trained psychologists should be delivering, which are strongly needed by our patients.

Please pass this bill so that patients can have reasonable access to needed medicines without having to wait for months.

I am a licensed psychologist in Washington State and have worked for years with underserved Medicaid / Medicare populations as well as injured workers. Finding psychiatric care for medication management is a huge challenge with long delays or no care at all being common. I support the effort to expand quality care via the prescribing psychologist bill, and stand ready to obtain the specialization / training myself.

It's time to take a major step to improve access to behavioral health treatment in our state. As a practicing clinical psychologist, it is very difficult to locate prescribers for my patients, resulting in tragic delays of care.
