Consultation is the key to creating a good working environment; allowing staff to feel listened to, valued and involved in influencing decision-making. While many independent schools do have meaningful consultation with staff, others, unfortunately, do not. Some employers confuse consultation with the conveying of information.
Recognition would establish the structures for consultation. ATL, NASUWT and the NUT believe that it is in the best interests of its members to be formally recognised for collective bargaining. This would mean you are consulted on general terms and conditions of employment including:
• Any changes to existing contracts, policies and procedures (e.g. the pay policy, or capability, discipline and grievance procedures)
• Physical working conditions, including health and safety
• Allocation of work or duties
• Trade union membership and facilities for accredited reps
• Arrangements for staff training and development, including mentoring and appraisal arrangements
• Workload, including any bureaucracy issues.
By supporting recognition at the Coventry School Foundation you are taking a positive step to ensure you have a real voice at work. The petition is confidential and only the results will be shared with the CSF
im still having so many conversations with staff who feel like their input is ignored lately. the silence from the foundation is frustrating but it just proves why we need these formal structures in place to be taken seriously.

we hit a really big milestone this morning and it feels like people are finally paying attention. seeing this momentum grow shows just how much we all need a seat at the table. things are starting to shift and i am so glad we are doing this together.

Working conditions are getting worse and nobody is listening. Recognition is the only way to get them to actually pay attention.

Finally!! About time this happened! So tired of being told what to do without being asked what we think first.

Support the union. They need to listen to us or nothing is ever going to change regarding the workload.
