With more and more fear of and restrictions on firearms, young people do not have the opportunity to learn gun safety, respect and handling skills. I fully support the shooting sports at my alma mater.

Keep the shooting sports club. It involves students from many backgrounds in a safe, considerate, and decent sport. You don't see the football haters calling for dissolution of the football program, do you? Leave your politics at home and let students choose for themselves. God forbid they choose something other than what the liberal elite want.

Let the kids who will shoot and win make the decision. If you don't like guns, you don't have to buy one. You don't have to shoot one. Don't try and force you will down my throat. Let every one make their own decision.

Please keep the club! There are no guns on campus - the guns are locked up and being used safely.

I think the Simpson College Shooting Sports Club is a very good club. Pleasantville Rifle & Pistol Club has hosted a shooting match for them and we enjoyed helping young people in shooting. Any attempt to dismantle this club should be put down. Shooting is a very good sport and it is American. Anyone that is not of this country ought not be allowed to try and change it.

As an assistant coach at the HS level I have seen the GREAT things that Sports shooting brings to the student athletes. I am pleased that Southeastern Community College has a sports shooting team as well. It is a wonderful recruiting option for the college.

Trapshooting is a very safe shooting sport that teaches respect, safety, ethics, responsibility and sportsmanship. I coach a high school trapshooting team and it would be a shame to lose that at the collegiate level after the foundation has been built at the high school level.

As a shooting couch for more than25 years, Trapshooting is safer than chess, promotes gun safety, and gives students a sport that everyone can compete in.

President: Poweshiek County Sportsmans Association. Consider those students who have chosen to engage in shooting sport activities for recreational shooting or as a completion shooter will represent your college by promoting safe firearm handling. (something this world needs right now)
