Neighbors - The Shelby Hills DADU Overlay gos before Metro Council Next Tuesday (7/7/15) and we need your support to ensure it passes.

Over the last few years I have heard increasing concerns about two things: affordability of housing and the demolition of existing homes - both of which change the character of the neighborhood we love.

The DADU Overlay (detached accessory dwelling unit, aka garage apartments) directly addresses both of those issues and provides a way for neighbors to create affordable housing options while also maintaining the character of the existing street-facing homes.

This overlay does not change base zoning - so we don't need to worry about tall & skinnies. It does bring us the same options for DADUs currently enjoyed by Lockeland Springs and other EN neighborhoods. It will only impact lots that have an improved alley OR located within a historic overlay district OR over 15,000 square feet.

This is a good plan for Shelby Hills that increases our ability to create affordable housing and maintain the characteristics of our neighborhood. I encourage you to sign this petition and share it with our neighbors today.

Thank You - Paul Hoffmann (1626 Long Ave)
