We demand the city repeal its illegal corporate welfare actions and re-start the TIF approval process per state law.

As citizens of the City of Stoughton and surrounding townships, we urge the Mayor and City Council of follow the rule of law, repeal the recent illegal actions of the council related to the Kettle Park West TIF project and re-start the TIF review and approval process required by state law.

State statutes require major amendments to Tax Incremental Financing (TIF) projects to proceed through a public hearing and reviews and approvals of the city planning commission, city council and the joint review board.

The city's recent approval of giving WalMart $5 million in TIF money, under certain conditions, is illegal corporate welfare and an abuse of the WI TIF law.

We support Stoughton Forward's lawsuit against the city asking the court to invalidate the city's recent illegal decisions and require the city to re-start the review and approval process for amendments per state statue (Chapter 66, Section 66.1105(4)(h)).

In the April referenda, 60% of city of Stoughton voters voted against the proposed TIF subsidies, 53% voted against the entire Kettle Park West project and 78% voted in favor of our community re-focusing on the re-development of our beautiful Downtown and riverfront.

We demand our city stop breaking the law, live under the rule of law and stop corporate welfare which creates an uneven playing field for all businesses and dearly costs citizens!

Stop wasting tax money fighting the Stoughton Forward law suit, get to work re-starting the review and approval process for TIF amendments. Abide by the rule of law. We demand it!
