Permits for residents

I live at 37 Caernarvon Road and the parking situation has become really bad. Once the street is full, we cannot park on neighbouring streets as we are not allowed to buy a permit to park there. This then means a hunt for a space further away. The past 2 weeks we have had tradespeople on site to replace our bathroom and we have had to save a space and then move the car every day. Whilst I am sympathetic to Peapods’ concerns, they could always pay to have some permits when the street becomes permitted; I think it is unfair of them to expect the residential street to be a car park for their business.

It is unfair that Residents should have problems in parking when others, who do not live there, use the road for parking purposes. As a Grandparent, who visits regularly, spaces are always limited.

This is a ludicrous situation that is grossly unfair on Carnarvon Road residents.

It’s absurd that Caernarvon Rd is the only street in the immediate area without permit parking. This fact places an intolerable burden upon its residents.

It needs to be the same rule for all streets, otherwise people will take advantage and the people who live on the street will suffer.

I think it’s important that the residents of Caernarvan Rd have their voice heard. I don’t understand the relevance of objections from others who neither live nor work here. I would like Peapod Nursery workers to also be provided with permits, otherwise the scheme will make things very difficult for them.

I live on Caernarvon road and the parking situation is horrendous. Looking at the zoning map it is obvious as to why. The street is full of school employees, works vehicles, and second vehicles from the neighbouring roads it makes. Without even the option to pay for a permit for other streets residents are left with no accessible parking options.

I cover child care for my Grandchildren who live in Caernarvon Road and often can not park in this road to support them .

Initially in sympathy with Peapods until I learned of their underhand plan. They should have consulted local residents who would have readily supported them.

Must be so frustrating.

There is no more room for extra cars, where tenants are already trying to keep their car space.

Permit parking works for everyone. Residential streets are not loading areas.

It seems a local school has asked parents to sign a petition asking for this proposal be stopped. I am also a teacher but, like many, have to pay to park neary work or park far away and walk. It is not fair that us residents on Carnarvon Road have everybody else parked on it so we can't park where we live. Ours is the only road like this. The road has many retired residents and they have to park their cars a long way away and carry heavy shopping to their homes.

Agreed, I think it’s time to close the loop and permit Caernarvon road to keep in line with all surrounding roads. It is the only island of non permits in the city.
