As the Director or The Barn Teen Center in Ridgefield, I can't speak strongly enough for the support of this wonderful facility. When towns choose other items over our kids, we have to wonder what has happened to our priorities. Our children are the future. They need to see that we care and will sacrifice in other areas before jeopardizing something clearly helping and supporting them.

The Outback is an invaluable and important resource to the community. Not funding it to the the 2010 or earlier levels is simply a travesty. The kids are the ones that will loose out on the tremendous programing, leadership and mentoring that the Outback offers. I have been a proud board member for over 3 years now and believe in its mission, purpose and value wholeheartedly.

My son was on the SGB at the Outback for some years. It is a wonderful and necessary place for our youth to engage in early steps towards leadership and community involvement. I think we need to value the role the Outback plays in learning "organizing", as much as what is organized there.

This is more than a "nice to have" for the kids to have a safe, constructive place to go. It is time to now step up and be heard.

The Outback is an import community resource that adds to the attraction for families to move to New Canaan.. This is not a place to cut Town spending, especially in a community with one of the highest per capita incomes in the nation.

The Outback center is a safe, affordable place to send my son after school and on weekends when I have to work. He enjoys the independance it gives him while being only 12 years old. Our children do not have a skate park, and our too old for a playground. They need someplace where they can go without getting in trouble from merchant, not loitering in front of stores.
