My son is a 2010 graduate of Rauner College Prep. He and his friends have all gone on to graduate college and are pursuing their careers. We would have been lost without Noble, CPS has failed to make a cogent argument for denying the Noble opportunity to hundreds of North side kids. If CPS is afraid of the competition, then they have to offer a better product. The city needs better neighborhood high schools, but families and their children can't wait for that to happen. The problem isn't Noble; Noble is the solution. The problem is CTU and the school board. Lots of blame to go around there.

My son attended Lincoln Park High School (our neighborhood school) where he failed. Noble Academy has totally turned him around. Students learn in many different environments and families need options that are not private schools.

Families in Uptown should have access to the Noble Academy- especially those who seek an education that rivals selective high schools in Chicago and are the first in their families to attend a college. The Noble Network provides excellent support to ensure students are not only successful in high school but in college as well. As a daughter of Filipino immigrants who grew up in Albany Park, I wish a school like the Noble Academy was an option for my brother, my cousins, and me.

Students are not "resources" that are taken from one school or another. They are children who deserve a great education. Their parents deserve the right to choose a school that is best for their family. The people opposing the Noble Academy's move are putting politics ahead of children. The Noble Academy deserves the opportunity to serve families at 640 W. Irving Park. The community will be better for it, I guarantee.

Without Noble Street Charter Schools I would not have had the many opportunities in which I have been given and I firmly believe that Noble is capable of enriching a community and should have the autonomy to move to their desired location.

This debate is about students who need and deserve a permanent home so they can continue to pursue a high quality high school education that will get them ready for college. It is about students and their families who have exercised their right to pursue a Noble education—and that is their choice. It is not about the voices of a select group of individuals and what they believe is best for underserved kids across this city. We need to redirect and refocus the conversation on what truly matters—our students and families.
