We, the undersigned, fully support the Kurdistan Regional Government’s position in its negotiations with the Iraqi government on all the issues, including the Kurdistan Region’s portion of the budget, oil exports, the Peshmarga, and Article 140. The Iraqi government has reneged on all its Constitutional obligations towards the Kurdistan region and has been consistently testing the will of the Kurdish people to see how much it can get away with in denying or curtailing the Kurdistan Region’s rights as guaranteed to it by the Iraqi Constitution.

For years, the Iraqi government has been dragging its feet regarding the implementation of Article 140 of the Iraqi Constitution, thus perpetuating the crimes committed against the Kurdish people by previous Iraqi governments, especially Saddam’s regime.

Regarding oil exports, the most contentious issue between the two sides now, we believe that the Kurdistan Regional Government’s conduct is within its Constitutional rights.

We urge the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to stand tough in its negotiations with Baghdad and not to compromise on any of the fundamental rights guaranteed to the people of Kurdistan by the Constitution. Those rights are not charities handed out by the government in Baghdad but fundamental national rights denied to the Kurdish people since the inception of Iraq. It is time we right the wrongs done to us by our “brothers.”
