The board needs to take the lead and not be swayed by the skewed views of certain administrators. Stop vilifying the teachers.

Somehow TCAPS teachers continue to pull through and be amazing for students... despite administration, lack of support, and having the rug pulled out from them over and over and over.

Our public schools and our teachers are the heart beat of our community. If we can't support our public school system and those that teach our children, we have nothing as a community.

TCAPS teachers deserve better - it's a shame how underappreciated and underpaid they are.

i totally agree with Kimberly. Our teachers are who we entrust to mold, excite, educate, nurse, and care for our children every day....if you felt you were not getting paid fairly at your job, how would you start feeling about the task you were given to do?

We are so grateful for the professional, caring, teachers that our three children have had the opportunity to work with over the past four years. As nice as the additional programs may be, nothing can replace the influence of a dedicated teacher who is committed to giving his or her "all" to students in the classroom each and every day. I sincerely hope that a fair contract may be negotiated soon and that teachers feel that their voices are being heard and respected.

Teacher morale is at an all time low. They need vision and leadership that will rebuild teacher morale. The 12-15% less in earnings comes from the CFO of TCAPS own numbers. While teachers have been taking cuts the district has reopening Bertha Voss, Montessori at Courtade, Spanish in elementary, and various administrative positions to the tune of $1 million. It is the teachers that make this an award winning respected district. It isn't always about the $. Teachers want respect and seat at the table. They are highly educated professionals. Skilled in working with children. It is time for this district to take bold steps to improve morale and stop paying lip service to how good the teachers are.

Good teachers made me love learning and bad teachers ruined certain subjects in school for me. It's important to support our teachers - they are a significant part of helping to shape our children's futures!
