Support Suzuki not High Density

Why did Bainbridge Island vote to approve a bond issue for the purchase of the Sakai property as a park and in less than a year decide that similar property less than a mile away should be developed densely and possibly given way for free. ?

I would love to see the city buy this property and develop into part of its open space system. If it is developed, I support maintaining the current 30 house zoning limit.

BI City Council is trying to rush this project and have not taken the time to fully assess the impacts on the environment, traffic, our community, and our children. I'm not against growth but let's be smart about it.

Let's accurately determine water usage capacity of our aquifers before any more homes are built.

I wholeheartedly agree with this petition, so much of the appeal and beauty of this island is it's natural history, it's geography, it's long stretches of "just" land and animals. If you choose high density, you choose suburbia, and hello Issaquah West. Please consider! Sharon

This property should be reserved for school expansion needs not more houses! It's not about building more houses it's about thinking ahead for the needs of education and kids!

I agree 100% with this petition. Enough high density. We need to retake the lead on this sensitive issue and not be afraid to say No.

Having lived on the island for 17 years, and having had children attend Woodward and Sakai, I am shocked that the City is considering any high density building in the Suzuki Property area. Please do not increase the number of houses and folks in this area. Its already impossible to navigate through during the morning and afternoon school hours.

Please consider keeping property as is.

I urge you to consider the already congested traffic, student safety, and environmental concerns - please do not allow any higher density than is already allowed, and please consider ALL other options before another high density development erodes the natural beauty of this parcel.

A high-density development shouldn't be the single option pursued by the city. And there are plenty of reasonable considerations that suggest it ought not be an option at all. Options that balance healthy community growth, responsible resource management, resident and neighborhood quality of life, preservation of natural wildlife corridors and filling needs other than housing (i.e., artist spaces, performing arts, etc.) ought to be on the table.

High density is not the solution for thr corner of Sportsman Club Rd and New Brooklyn Rd.

Instant gridlock...bad idea. Cmon, aren't the developers making enough already?

These decisions change Bainbridge permanently. High density developments will cause all of the problems mentioned in the petition and create overcrowding in our schools.
